Here in Columbus, we had a terrible ice storm three days before Christmas last year. Everything was encased in a layer of ice several inches thick, and thousands of people were without power and heat for days (including Christmas), some for weeks. Luckily I was able to stay with my parents for the two weeks I was in the dark.
I took this picture in the parking lot as I was leaving work on Christmas Eve. The sun is behind the hill, out of the line of sight for the camera, but visible through the diffraction of the ice on the branches. The vibrant orange "flame" against the rich blue evening sky was overwhelming, I'm so glad I had my camera. {Sorry about the streetlights, I tried to hide them as best as possible, but it is a parking lot.}

i love this picture. it's so simplistic but so complex at the same time. we had an ice storm like that here once and everything was sooo pretty afterwards. it's like it just puts the whole world on display, despite being incredibly debilitating too.
I really love how you did this! Amazing timing, and I didn't even notice the streetlights until I read your tekst.. Really good job, I'm hoping for snow here as well (just not a terrible storm)
Very Nice! I love the contrast between the orange and blues. You asked for a critique, but I honestly can't think of anything right now, this is really good.
